July 8, 2022 - COVID-19 has become a major detour in our lives, and we are not out of the woods just yet. In fact, Curry County is the only county in our region with a community risk level of “medium,” whereas Josephine, Jackson, Klamath, Lake and Siskiyou counties are in the “high” category.

These metrics are calculated weekly on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website and are a combination of positive Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations, and percentage of hospital beds taken by COVID-positive patients.

“When a county ends up in that higher risk category, the main change in recommendations is that everybody is recommended to wear a mask while in an indoor public space and that is both to protect the individual wearing the mask and those around them because there is a lot of COVID in the community,” said Dr. Leona O’Keefe, Medical Director for Jackson County Public Health.
